We would suggest that you come with a picnic lunch. The food options consist of fast food quality at higher than fast food prices. There is also a small play area for kids, who get a little restless. If you are carrying anything (backpack, handbag), you must use the (free) lockers nearby before you get on line. We were at KSC for 7 hours and probably only saw half of what was available. Two hours felt like a lot of time to give up once we saw how much there was to see and do. The tour is very informative, but less so for kids. (This may only be permitted with the ‘Explore’ Bus Tour.) The bus tour is interesting – you get fairly close to launch sites and just by coincidence we were there a day or two before a launch so we saw a rocket in place. Also, we didn’t have to wait on a long line, as we bought a timed entry ticket. The Explore Tour is similar to the regular 2-hour bus tour, only it makes a few stops and guests are allowed off the bus for a quick photo op. We purchased the “Daily Admission and KSC Explore Tour” for $80.25 per person. It’s $10 to park – bear right to pay cash, left to use a credit card (the credit card line takes longer as people seem to have difficulty using it). We arrived early and clearly many others had the same idea. Best day out this trip, wish we could have stayed longer.Prepare yourself for a long, very interesting day. We did not manage to do the two IMAX films or the hall of fame but we did walk round the rocket garden and spent ages in the fabulous shop. For me the remembrance section for those who lost their lives in the two shuttles that exploded was so moving and a beautifully presented by NASA. We all loved the exhibit with lots of activities for the kids and simulator. We wished we had had more time we went to the space shuttle exhibition and without spoiling the surprise start with the film experience. We had lunch at the cafe there and my husband said it was the best burger he had had in Orlando!Īnyway back on the bus back to the main centre. For us this is a trip that dreams are made of especially just weeks after the 50th anniversary of the moon landings and year of watching all space news and movies.įirst thing to do is go on the bus tour, we waited a while but it was worth it, the tour took us past the massive building where they build the space crafts, show us how they transport the rockets to the launch pads and near several pad we really had butterflies in our tummy's this is where it all took off! You stop at the apollo centre and the theatre presentation is amazing you feel like you were really there, you get to walk round a saturn 5 rocket and other exhibits. We booked our tickets direct on the Kennedy website before we left the UK. But instead just give them the middle finger because you can and its "your policy".įabulous trip out to the space coast, well worth the drive from Orlando. You would think you would want to make these peoples day for spending that kind of money and not getting to see the launch or if you are not going to give them the other items they paid for, at least refund some of there money. Riddle me this, how does a rocket not going into space affect a hamburger or other items I paid for? Answer: it doesn't! But you don't get them unless it launches even though you paid for them. But if the rocket doesn't launch you get nothing. However we paid $550 dollars for 2 of us to watch this launch and the package was supposed to include lunch and some other items. Now we knew that there is always a possibility that something goes wrong and the launch is cancelled and we get that. We bought tickets for the "Feel The Heat" package to see a rocket launch. But all of this was a 5/5 and we had a great time. The NASA today exhibit makes you realize that NASAs best days are unfortunately behind them. The Shuttle exhibit did a great job of making a sad follow up to Apollo not look so sad and was a lot of fun. Seeing the Saturn V in person was amazing. The park itself was really cool and going here has been a bucket list item of mine since I was a little kid. This is a hard review to leave because in some ways it was a 5/5 and in other ways it was -10/5.
